Tell me if I’m wrong, but the one thing about Marvel’s Spider man trilogy, gets back in track with Sam Raimi’s plot all along…
The main familiarity and the biggest selling point of Spider man is the secret identity super hero thing of a common kid/ man, struggling in his personal life, could be easily relatable to a fan’s life struggles, that the type of super hero they look upto…!
Marvel’s Spider man was lacking that personal struggles in the first two films, portraying Peter Parker as a mature kid, still figuring out his true potential and character and is new to take life altering decisions/ in other words, taking up on more responsibilities with more power.
But this instance, makes this spiderman fit in his ideal identity of a super hero, and the consequences of his decisions or circumstances rose around him, similar to Sam Raimi’s secret identity super hero and his struggles in personal life (losing the father figurine in his life, being miserable, etc.) but quite the contrary to be revealed identity, which obviously fails (no one can pull it off like tony stark in that case) and becoming a secret identity super hero that no one knows… which comes at a huge cost (wiping his own identity, Peter Parker)
On another note, if we kick in the Batman quote ‘You die as a hero (like Tony) or you live long enough to become a villain (like spiderman)’, or the other ultimate choice is ‘don’t exist at all’ (current scenario of peter parker that nobody knows).
In all possible ways, the cliche of Spiderman – the secret superhero to have all the bads happen to him/ his beloveds, continues…
